DMoney
I know I'm new but I don't see how an S70 GLT can be made faster than a S70 T5. Someone care to elaborate? Thanks. :)
HtownTurboBrick
Well it can be faster if you were to upgrade to a T5 tune w/ 16T turbo versus the stock 13C on the GLT. This is because of the higher displacement and higher compression ratio in the GLT.

mdlimy
t5 is the more commonly built motor, lower compression allows for higher boost levels. the glt has more low end because of the higher compression but lacks the top end power the t5 allows for. It depends on how much money and how much horsepower you are planning on making.
ozzimark
T5 has more total power, GLT has the power sooner.
DMoney
T5 has more total power, GLT has the power sooner. I see, I see. OK so if i want torque, I want a GLT. Are there any cool options on T5 that'd I'd be missing out on?
bum2kev
nothing specific. possibly the trip clock.
DMoney
you dont have to source a 16t or a t5 ecu S70 T5m it is then! Thanks guys.
troyhyde
The 2.3L engine should be harder to blow up.
bum2kev
i believe the 2.4 lpt and the 2.3 hpt use the same rods and stroke. i think the pistons are just bigger thus have a thinner side wall....
mdlimy
S70 T5m it is then! Thanks guys. good choice, glt or t5 are both good motors....as long as they have a manual transmission mated to it ;)
Mesoam
t5's have thicker blocks IIRC as well as sodium filled valves and a slew of other small things
Chilled man
t5's have thicker blocks IIRC as well as sodium filled valves and a slew of other small things only difference is block thickness and .1 more displacement valves are the same your thinking turbo vs NA
