ACES70
99+ is a pain because u cant run a mbc (most of the time) and a few other differences ARMY How is that a pain? Ok so from what im hearing so far, if you dont want to spend any money to get a car with higher boost but does not run a correct tune or have a fuel map to match get a 98 If you can spend some $$$ to get a car running correctly with a tune specific for the car with a flat power band get a 99+
--Aaron--
Yes people go for the 98 because its easier and costs less, not becuase its faster or better. Twin cam vs. CVVT you tell me which breathes better and is therefore more efficient in its power delivery. Oh Aaron you edited Stealth edit FTW. Haha, I've been up for a while and re reading what I wrote wasn't mashing together properly in my mind so off it went. Very true though, 99/00 are just as good as the 98s. If anything the 99/00 prevent people from half assing things on the performance end and ensure things are done right. IMO How is that a pain? Oh goodness, what do we have going on in this thread.
cheapwagon
Run a 14 afr and anything will feel really fast, but its not going to be safe. True but mine seems to be fine and to be honest I can't seem to kill my GLT. I have been running without the WG actuator line hooked up for 8 months now. I haz boost leaks. DMoney
OK so it year depends on taste I guess, if you like your cars/women easier go with 98, if you like a challenge 99+ is more you. The main consensus is GLT+White tops+T5 tune+16t. Wheres the 5 speed come in? I HATE with a PASSION Volvo auto trannys. On any given day there's 4 in any Aamco across the country. Beyond that, the differences between 98 and 99+ are negligible. I mostly bought a '98 because it's what I found first
