FWD would be your best bet in a volvo any year car.

Corrected

To me 98 > 99 in may ways

Tunning

Manual swap

Access of parts

Reusual of parts .

that also no ETM and shitty trannys in 00 .

But the 99+ heads are much better.

Best bet would be to find a blown motor 98 and drop in a 99+ engine and be pimp ;)

but in GLT land I do have 16t and white injectors chilling in the shop so ...

for what it's worth, and if memory serves me correct, jesse's old 97 850 glt with relatively similar mods and respective stock turbos to my 95 850 turbo was faster thru quarter and had higher trap speed. granted, his a sedan, mine a wagon, still. the glt engine is really peppy down low. while it just takes the turbo/t5 longer to get to boost.

The SE is going to come with homelink and 16s the others wont. You know my thoughts about which to get.

Gah i love the SE but the 98s are so much easier. Looks like a 98 GLT for me. NOW. For the upgrades. White tops, 16T and tune. anything else?

you guys sure the LPTs had the same rods and crank as the HPTs? how did they make the compression higher then?

I still maintain that the best starting point is a 98 T5M. 98's are just a little simpler than 99+ which makes them easier to work on and I just dont like me7. adaptive accelerator, drive by wire, vin locked parts, ECU controlled tranny etc... who wants that anyways. as to why an HPT, i like my top end and getting a nice kick of boost. the 8.5 CR means you make more power off of boost than in an LPT where compression plays a bigger role, and this extra boost also helps the top end pull a little more.

best S70 would be a coral 98 S70T5M SE for you, because then id be jealous

I has one of those for sale! :D

OK so it year depends on taste I guess, if you like your cars/women easier go with 98, if you like a challenge 99+ is more you. The main consensus is GLT+White tops+T5 tune+16t. Wheres the 5 speed come in? I HATE with a PASSION Volvo auto trannys. On any given day there's 4 in any Aamco across the country.

You do not absolutely need white injectors....the topic has been discussed before. I've been on oranges (stock), 16T, full exhaust, ST 12 psi tune for ~9 months and have experienced no issues. I do not have a wideband but my EGTs are safe and the car runs/pulls throughout the powerband perfectly fine.

Also, Volvo autos are very reliable given proper flushes at recommended intervals. Provided you aren't neutral slamming and driving like a douchebag.......

If you do the proper and recommended prep work for more power you will have plenty of time to figure out which mods you want. It took me ~7 months to get my car fully prepped and situated performance wise. I suggest you do a SOLID stage 0, silicone > 16T > full exhaust > tune. Honestly as I said Oliver has many custom GLT tunes that take into account those mods I just mentioned and would be your best bet for tuning. You can go with white injectors if you really want to but will have no issues with your stock ones provided they are functioning properly.

you can pull n clean your factory injectors or just run a really good fuel inj cleaner

i like gumout - i suggest the stuff they have thats designed to be used on a car that hasnt had a fuel system cleaner in a long time - and then upkeep it with a regular bottle of gumout in a half tank of gas once a month - it'll keep those injs atomizing properly

Ive run 15psi for 3 years do have a wideband and have dyno runs showing that the stock oranges are fine. Only issues I have had is a fuel pump died. I ran 17psi with a 3inch cat-back to 2.5inch cat back with a FMIC and 15G for 6 months and it was solid even at that power level.
