SomeGuy
On my 850 t5-r, whenever the heat or a/c is turned on smoke/moisture pours from the vents. It is definitly not electric and everything is working fine except for the smoke. If i get out of the car, unroll the windows, and turn the heat and fan to full, the smoke stays for a few minutes and then clears up. After that it only shows up occasionally for the rest of the day. It definitly smells like coolant and there is a lot of moisture so my guess is that the heater core is going out with a small internal leak or something? There isnt any leakage on the carpet under the heater core that I can find, but am I right in thinking its time to replace the heater core? SomeGuy
i've seen moisture vapor if the car is super hot and humid and the AC is turned on. it hasnt been super hot, and when it was doing it two days ago the temperatures were in the high fiftys and so i had the heat one. It doesnt seem to matter if it is hot out or cold and I use the a/c or the heat what does it smell like?? Coolant? burning? What color is the smoke? This was in the post but coolant is the closest thing i can think it smells like. Definitly not electrical burning or anything. I wasnt driving the car when it first happened but I guess it was brownish at first. When I drive it is more of a white/grey steam sort of smoke. Thanks for the quick replies
beckzach05
Heater core! I know, because that's exactly what mine was doing. You'll have to pull up the carpet on both sides to check for leaks, but I feel pretty confident that that's your issue. Pull the panels off and check to be sure. eeuroparts.com has the heater core kit (core with o-rings) for $119.90 with free shipping.

95 854 t-5
the white mist you speak of is prob from your heater core I had the same symptoms
esundell90
its kinda sounding like a heater core. I suspect mines on the way out because it smells like coolant when you turn the heat on. Thanks for the link to get a new one for a decent price beckzach05
Bah
The only time i've seen white mist from my vents, is either electrical smoke , or while driving at 40+ mph, the forced air with the airmix on, and recirc off, no fan running, would blow excellent cold air, that had a white mist to it. Other then that, i;d go with heater core :x
