I have a 99 V70R AWD wagon and I want it to perform better for not too much money. my wallet is getting pretty small with college tuition to pay. anybody know a site that sells quality volvo parts for cheap or have any advice on what I should do to it? I want it to be better than the average V70R.

the first thing you should do is wait

you don't want something to break while you are trying to get back and forth from college

and then find yourself stuck on the side of the road with no money and a engine bay full of performance parts

+1 Been there, done that. Not fun, sitting on the side of the highway at 2 AM and finding out that your flashlight isnt in the car anymore.

lol aww come on wheres the fun in that?

Luckily my N/A has never broke down on me on my 50+ trips from gainesville to jacksonville. Even after i seafoamed, took off heater parts, changed hoses, everything. It still manages to pull through every time :) It did however, like to randomly stall out whenever it was a bit too cold outside and moist. happened 2 times in the past 2 years =0.

I would stage 0 it first personally. Thats what i'm doing with my R. Upgrade/redo your entire cooling system with silicone and newer style hoses. clean it up. Not sure where you live, but overheating or leaking coolant = you end up carrying a thing of antifreeze in your trunk for the past 50-60k (in the N/A). I personally have purchased styling radiator hoses, new upper turbo and lower turbo coolant tubes.

Just Stage 0 it really good before you do anything...and if your wallet is tight, do minor upgrades with your stage 0 so that youll save in the long run. I'd rather build a car which needs one major maintenance done..and thats the timing belt..vs having to change hoses every 3 years.

Also check out the for sale section...being AWD i'd imagine alot of the things that are specific to your car are going to be more expensive, so just keep that in mind.

Good luck to ya

wait wait wait....sooo you want to spend very little money...get quality parts that last...and make your car go really fast...have you ever heard the expression "you have to pay to play" ?? Save up some money during the next semester or two, then go out and buy yourself an nice ECU upgrade and an exhaust or something. You want quality stuff man! Don't cheap out when you're buying parts because it will come back later and nip you in the rear.

If you want to do something immediately, spend a little money first on just a tune up. Then spend some more money on detailing products. In your spare time, clean up the car a little bit. You'll be much more happy with a car that is uber clean than a car that's uber fast. Plus, all you've put into it is a little elbow grease!

Hmm...so on the off chance HE HAS done stage 0...if i was him..and wanted to get said cheap crap-ola...

Well, being AWD drops you off from getting the OBX turboback for 400 bucks. so your SOL there lol. I intend to get one.

But assuming you are well maintained, a CHEAP tune, might be your best bet. I know that there are some places out there who will do cheap...but you wont get the quality of one such as IPD's. If you are properly stage 0'ed..you can probably get a tune on the cheap for around 300-400? maybe less/more? That right there in theory, would be the biggest bang for the buck. And if you get a custom tune, then you would be different from every V70R on the road ....but just make sure your not the one ON the side of the road =0
