Castle97
Is my only option to replace the downpipe with a new catalytic coverter now that my exhaust pipe downstream of the turbo has separated from the flange that is still bolted to the turbine? Will removing the whole exhaust system and welding the flange work? It appears only the dealer carries the 1999 downpipe with the catalytic converter. Any help appreciated. The car has 124,800 mi and thinking of keeping it for a couple of years. Thanks.
Chilled man
head to your local exhuast shop and have them make you one or go on ebay look for OBX downpipe for volvos there about $150 buy that get a race cat and have the exhuast shop install taht. It will be half the price of a volvo one
MrWinkey
I have seen them crack at the pipe flare and have sucessfully welded them back together a few times. A good weld and a bit of grinding to allow the flange to slip back over the weld is all that is needed. Funny thing is I have only seen this on the 99years? Pull the pipe and find a good welder. Thanks for the advice, but now that I have the downpipe disconnected...how do I wiggle it out of the engine area?
Castle97
Thanks for the advice, but now that I have the downpipe disconnected...how do I wiggle it out of the engine area? The welder left the downpipe in the car, but rotated the flange to below the engine area. If I ever have to replace the cat I need to go with the dealer.
