Worn Engine Mount And Oil Leak (Pics Inside)

here is a pic of my motor mount. It is the bottom passenger mount.

Now pics of my oil leak. My guess is the oil dripped down on the mount, worn it enough to become loose and it became chewed up a lot before I really noticed.

It looks like the oil is leaking from behind the timing belt cover. The sun was going down so I did not have time to remove the cover and check. Is there another common place for oil to be leaking from. As you can see in the pics it is leaking up the hard coolant line.

Thanks for any advice or comments.

jack up motor while in the car use a 2x6 ontop of your engine jack so you dont damage the pan

then its two bolts to the frame 17mm and the two bolts into the block 14mm

pop them out pull out old mount pop in new one turn in bolts and your golden

you will spend more time jacking up the car then you will changing the mount

is there a life expectancy for teh mount? I'm trying to chase down some unhappiness in my front end, and I've had a couple reliable mechanics unable to find a suspension issue, If it's that easy to swap i may just do it.

The Genuine Volvo mounts usually last a good deal longer than the Scantech ones. It's usually the case that more than one mount has gone bad if they haven't ever been changed or it's been several years. The transmission mount is easy to see - just look at the rubber bushings in the mount, and the top engine mount is easy to check as well by looking for cracks and also by watching if the motor moves when you shift from reverse to drive (with your foot firmly on the brake, e-brake up, and someone looking in the engine bay). Also double check the firewall mount while your doing this since Volvo came out with an updated style a number of years ago. If that one's never been changed it's likely cracked adding some vibrations.

On the AWDs we have another mount opposite the one you have pictured, but I'm not sure where the FWDs have theirs.
