RickyRacer
I have a 2000 V70R AWD Wagon. I bought a 3rd seat yesterday and installed it today. Everything fits perfect, but i can't get the spare tire to fit. The spare tire hits the bracket were the seat buckels go on the bottom. I was just going to cut the bracket and reinforce the bracket. I have 16" wheels with a 205-55-16 tire. The spare in the car is 125-80-17. Im thinking i have the wrong spare tire or Im missing something???. My friend put the wrong spare on his AWD VR4 galant and blew up this transfercase, I dont want that to happen to mine. Any ideas??? I put an arrow in the picture to show where the tire hits. There a hole like something else goes there. Thanks Ricky
z31jaime
lol u need to run a doughnut with the 3rd row. at least mine is a little doughnut. i have seen someone cut the bracket to make the full sized fit before so im guessing its ok.also just an update to my last post... to do it they had to cut that notch sticking up off, and also hammer the part below it so its almost totally flat. i got that bracket when i got my 3rd row seat belts and threw it out cause it looked like $h^t

z31jaime
before you cut it...ill go look at my wagon durring the day and see. i dont think mine is a 17" spare.
Big Will
I know that the proper size AWD donut is listed in both the owner's manual and the supplementary AWD info brochure that came with the car. Check there for the proper size donut. Although Volvo states that their donut is fine for short distances, I would be very careful when using it. Thanks for your help what you have, is a full size spare. what you need, is a helper spare. i'm willing to bet the wheel matches the other 4 on the vehicle? you need one that looks similar to this:

The spare in the car is 125-80-17. There's nothing in the bottom of the spare tire well you could pull is there? Do you have a subwoofer? I only ask because, IIRC, in P2 cars, third row seats and subwoofers do not play well together.
RickyRacer
There's no subwoofer. If I cant streach the metal to make the spare fit. I'm just going to build my audio system down there and get AAA towing : )
hankbates
What you have is a 3rd seat assembly which was taken from an 850, which had a smaller compact spare than the 98 and later AWD cars. The assembles from 1998 and later had a seat belt anchor bracket which was made to fit the large AWD spare, with provision to add a spacer to fit the smaller spares used in the fwd cars. You could cut the interfering piece away, but better would be to find a bracket which fits your spare. I'd recommend that you not use the smaller spare because it will probably cause premature drive line problems if you ever use it. I will look tomorrow to see if I have one sitting around in the garage. PM me if you still need it ...
RickyRacer
I'm going to try to heat the metal and streach it this weekend it only need a little bit to fit. This seat came out of a newer v70 from Volvo speed member. I'll pm if I need the other bracket. Thanks

Ghost Shadow
Here the bracket i cut it hit about 1" from the bottom weld. mine does not have that bracket coming down to the bottom. my car is a 99 xc with oem 3rd seat. suggestion is deflate the tire a little, and add a compressor in there. Ghost Shadow
looked at the XC70 yesterday for you. mine has the same bracket, and same size spare. did you put the tire in upside down? edit: here's m picture....and upon closer inspection, it does seem to have the bracket in a different spot. looks like you gots to hammer it or just do what i did with my spare
