lookforjoe
That thing looks pretty sweet. Yeah! I'm looking forward to it. I like the boost by gear etc, of the Apexi, but I've had nothing but quirky problems this past year, with presets randomly changing themselves - not good when, for example, the start duty cycle for 4th gear suddenly ups itself by 50%!!!! I did buy a used Greddy Profec Spec II, but this is way more sophisticated, and has an external MAP, like the Apexi. No boost by gear control, but I can live without that if I can trust the settings to maintain themselves.
lookforjoe
Did a little logging two days ago to see how it's running overall. Seems that the new pump has altered overall volume/pressure under load somewhat - It seems that I can run slightly more boost on what was my 18psi map before running into trouble. Reset the Apexi for 1.4bar. I did a pretty hard pull from 2nd into 3rd with a WRX on my butt - and didn't notice I was over 8K - got a massive cloud of black smoke in his face & fuel cut OEM plugs at stock gap of .030" Anyway, after I drove it gently for a couple of miles to clear it out, I did a couple of pulls, tried to keep it down a little, since I have 4 snows on still. 3rd4th 60-130 around 9sec - didn't go WOT until 74mph still got 4sec 61.9 - 104.1 even with that 4th5th (raised the WOT sliders a tad after the last pull to keep it under 12.5 up top No real evidence of any timing pull - 12.5degrees around 5200 as I go WOT which is .5 under requested - Timing Map (for these logs, RPM scale 4K - up revised 2/26) Did an extended part throttle (5psi per the gauge) pull in 5th - to see what timing & AFR's are doing under partial load. Slight uphill grade. It's running really well at the moment - so yesterday I loaded a different tune and revised the RPM scaling over 4K, leaned out the entire tune 3% - cruising & idle AFR's were a tad rich for my liking. I'll see how that goes when it stops raining - should be clearing up on Friday.
lookforjoe
Also revised the Provent so it vents into the air box - I'm only getting water vapor (and CC stank) - this seems to have fixed the odors 99%
volvoskiah
As always nice work! Hopefully see the car this year at Carlisle
laird
The car is fast! You must be looking at something at or below 9 seconds 0-100 now. Love me that yellow pad.
lookforjoe
Thanks Laird! Log from this afternoon 60-120 is a hair over 8sec. maybe I'll add a little more timing. Need to raise the WOT sliders at up top (7K -) Think I've pretty much done with the 710cc injectors, running just over 20psi here, hitting 84% duty cycle. DW300 pump has definitely helped with volume up top. I'm hoping adding the Bosch 044 will give it a little extra.
lookforjoe
Partial log from this afternoon, on revised map. 3rd into 4th, decel/accel in 4th. Re-instated the boost and CCaseVacuum data logging
lookforjoe
Did a extended 3-5th level track pull - seemed like the clutch slipped in 3rd based on the sudden RPM rise, but when I did a separate 3rd pull, it was fine. This happened over the weekend also, when Maciek was visiting - I thought I must have caught the clutch pedal with the edge of my shoe, but now I'm not so sure. 3rd 4th 5th - took it to 6800rpm in 5th, which buries the speedo. AFR's are all good. Steady 20psi (245kPa) CCvac scale also kPa - so anything under 101.3kPa is vacuum I'll edit this post & add the data once I've edited it down to 100rpm increments closeup of 3rd "slippage" from 3-5th pull above. Went from about 4K to 8500 in about .5sec 3rd pull, no problem
lookforjoe
Definitely have an issue. Rolling in 3rd, then going WOT results in what feels to me like slip - although the initial vibration felt more like the onset of wheel hop/spin. graph shows rapid spike - you can see where the speed goes flat at the partial second the revs climb - starts around 4400, I think. I'll add the data once I've edited it down I did another roll/accel and got the same condition but, if I do a slow steady accel to WOT, it's fine - you can see the steady matching climb of RPM & speed lines (green & orange respectively) 2nd into 3rd and 3rd alone I'm gonna have to drop the boost to WG only, and see if it goes away, at least that may help determine if it's a torque issue, although I can't believe I'm making enough to slip the Spec stage III, it makes no sense. If anything, I'd suspect it's still an offset issue with the fucking KU flywheel/Spec combo come back to bite me in the ass.
Rod'sT-5
Sorry to hear that. I noticed on the chart that your AFR went way up when it slipped. Inj duty cycle and fuel pressure were ok. Maybe due to loss of load on the engine? Rod

Maybe due to loss of load on the engine? Rod That would be congruent with slip - instant load reduction. Just very frustrating.
Rod'sT-5
I'm sure it is frustrating, but you really are pushing the limit's on this. You should be proud of your reaction time, looks like less than .3 seconds to roll off the throttle ! What's your rev limiter set to? I thought your earlier posts said you lowered it. lookforjoe
data logs 3rd slippage again EDIT: 69 -78 in under .2sec isn't clutch slip 2nd3rd no slip revised timing map - more timing added fuel - 3% leaner over whole map & minor tweaks here & there to smooth

B Mac
Idk Ben, not with how fast the revs climb. That is the same symptom that we both had which lead Hussein to shim his pressure plate and me to get the 707 pressure plate. Maybe take it easy for a couple days Hussein and try to wear down any glazing and try it again later.
