lookforjoe
Replaced the Knock sensors, torques to 20Nm, replaced the ECT sensor while I was there. Started working on my 3" intake & MAF housing - will combine with new BOV - Greddy Type R coming from Hanks. cut section from stock MAF housing, braised collar to hold it, & JB welded it in place painted black marking up for BOV flange back together sans BOV for now Now I have to rescale my maps for the extra flow - thanks to JCViggen for his help with that! Different set of issues -I have to clear the AWD. Running the DP straight down the right side helps. This was with the BG out when I did the newer pan
loseR99
Different set of issues -I have to clear the AWD. Running the DP straight down the right side helps. your pictures are great! If you have one, could you please post a pic of the downpipe avoiding the front diff from the top side? I'm having issues with getting a test pipe section made locally and a reference picture would help show how you avoided things. Thanks! -Adam

lookforjoe
Mocking up the 3" piping now that I have the Greddy in hand (thanks Hanks!) just need a 2"x7" silicone hose to finish the connection from BOV to Inlet

lookforjoe
finished up the braising on the intake pipe & bov dump pipe - I used the compressor outlet from a 15g for the ribbed hose connection area ports; IAC, WI, BOV & Intake temp sensor 40mm dump tubing - I had to cut down a piece or 3 1/2 pipe & reseam it for the body, I ran out of 3" Next paint, then install & get the 3" MAF tune sorted out
mdlimy
what are you using to braise everything? Looks great! felt my first 15psi on the 20g today, cant even immagine the boost you are running! cant wait :D

Looks great! felt my first 15psi on the 20g today, cant even immagine the boost you are running! cant wait It's a braising rod called HTS-2000. There's one seller on eBay that sells it in small quantities. You can braise copper & brass to aluminum also, which is what I use for the IAC port (since copper tubing/fittings can be bought at a plumbing supply). I haven't had much luck finding aluminum tubing locally. I lucked out on the thick wall 40mm & 3.5" pipe, my local machine shop happened to have some scrap he gave me :)

Remember in the end that is the point to all of this, not some number on a dyno sheet so the internet will approve... Yes indeed.I enjoy all the fabrication & figuring out what will work. Even with the frustrations of the mapping issues, I'm still having fun with it, and that's what counts most to me. Doing incremental changes certainly isn't the most cost-effective way to do things, but it does make it more fun to feel the differences along the way. I'm confident the Greddy will resolve the surge issue, and if I'm lucky, The reduced load on the impeller will give me some breathing space on needing the turbo rebuild. :)
Captain Bondo
Have you re-scaled for the bigger maf housing yet? I'm interested to see how that works. Having fun is the most important, but part of what I find fun is hitting the dyno and getting quantifiable results that tell me if I have made progress or not. I can't wait.
