Front Suspension

Recommended Posts

Okay so I am trying to develop a full list of OEM part numbers for my front suspension.

I'm still trying to sift through all these posts about such.

Is there a page that can tell me the part numbers I need from a drawing or sorts.

Including steering turn buckels. Got over 202K have to do this before winter.

My end is banging around squeaking and just down right feels like driving a 2 horse carriage.

I have been noticing that there's terminology for some parts that are referenced differently.

So the strut mount is the same as a strut bearing? ect.

I would like to give the guys over at DW a P# list rather than a description.

Chassis code. That's what you need to supply DW with in order to get the exact struts springs etc. that came with your car from the factory.

You can find this on the metal plate in the engine bay at the bottom right of the plate IIRC. Each number or letter corresponds to a part of your suspension.

Do you know what you need specifically, or are you just ordering everything and overhauling it?

There are some better deals out there than OEM parts in terms of suspension in my opinion (which isn't worth much)

The guys at FCP groton have whole kits available for most components, and at pretty good price points as well.

Just my .02

Be careful of good deals I got new BOGE struts and what I thought were going to be boge spring seat and strut mounts for 295$ Turned out to be URO strut mounts and Nordic spring seats I wanted to get it done and didn't want to ship things back and forth across the country. I figure how bad could they be? Maybe they'll only last 6 or 7 years instead of 13 like the originals. So I put them in June 23. I just took them out Sept. 12 groaning and grinding terrible. One of the spring seat bearings had failed and the spring seat had rounded itself off. Sent them back to the guy who sold them to me for refund and installed BOGE oem. You can hold the part in your hand and see that its better quality than URO. I can understand wanting the car to last for a couple years or something but I'd rather have the Volvo part with 100,000 miles on it than a new URO

That's perfect Chassis code it is.

Thanks Will

I would think at around 200K miles everything is on it's way out. Overhauling is I think the best route to go. My spring seats are gone, just waiting for my strut to go through the hood . When I break I can feel the front end shrug. If I move the car by hand I can get it to squeak. Bumps sound like a hollow thud, one expansion joint in the road feels like the grand canyon.

Do you think I should replace springs? Or do they never go bad?

FCP is good on some things But I can't take a chance on getting burned by crap components.

Yea I feel your pain on the URO parts. I snapped a lower right motor mount URO part.

Yes replace the springs at that mileage. This is a good opportunity to order lowering springs if you want them and if not then just order the ones that came with your car. Oh and use the spring seats from the XC90 - same price and they have a little extra material on them so they should last longer...fit is exactly the same.

DW Volvo is your friend for Genuine Volvo Parts - Jamie and Don are great.

I really like FCP as well these days for certain, very-specific non Genuine Volvo parts or they can get you pretty good prices on the Genuine stuff too and Scott is trying really hard to do a great job.
