BEJinFBK
I'll bet you could fish a pull wire from the speaker opening down to the HU... Worth a shot!
mdlimy
damn it how much did you pay for that upper dash? know where i can get one in charcoal also?
Black Betty
I bet if you were careful about it you could retro the speaker on to the 850 dash as well....Just thinking about it if you cut away the material from the back side of the dash up to the vinyl you could then pierce the vinyl and wrap it to the back side and the speak grill would cover up any other imperfections... crazykn
Speaking of which, do you know which connectors does the center speaker goes to on the SC-901? I would like to rig up some sort of center channel, but don't know where the wires would go into the SC-901. I know its not connected to the stock outboard amp nor the Dolby unit. But which connector and pin does it go to?

beadgc23
My guess is that it goes to the 12-pin (?) green connector on the back of the radio. It does, and it's 4 pin - you'll need to source an original cable I think. I couldn't find a matching connector. BTW, does anyone know what the other two brown and black wires do? Mine were cut when I bought it. EDIT It's a 5 pin cable, mine has 4 wires connected, pin 2 is N/C I bet if you were careful about it you could retro the speaker on to the 850 dash as well....Just thinking about it if you cut away the material from the back side of the dash up to the vinyl you could then pierce the vinyl and wrap it to the back side and the speak grill would cover up any other imperfections... Has anyone done this? I have a 3990 dash and apparently center speaker dash tops don't come in this color. So I go two-tone ( ) or hack up another dash... The Dolby dash I bought is a spot on match for the tan dash that came in my car originally, which was "two tone". I have the light tan interior. It looks totally factory, despite being "two tone" as you put it. Finding one is a whole other story!
beadgc23
I'm English by birth, so "two-tone" has terrible implications of dodgy white-boy 80's Ska played by acne-ridden art students in pork pie hats. No offense intended! I know of a light tan dash I can pick up for a decent price if I'm prepared to drive 3 hours to get it...the temptation is enormous. My interior is darker, couple of shades above "Oak", but not the creamy light tan. mkc70
No...I have a spare dash pad but I dont like the way the center speaker looks. +1, looks like an after thought. They could easily have molded the grille to the curve of the dash for a more integrated look.
Fake-R
Another option for people that don't want to swap dashes, but still have the center speaker, is a DIN center channel. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SBS05DC/Alpine-SBS-05DC.html?tp=
