Young Burnsy
Hey, So my car has been vibrating at or above speeds of 45 MPH, it is most noticeable after 60 MPH. I was hoping that replacing the transmission engine mount would make a difference but I don't think it did. This vibration comes only from the left front wheel under load/acceleration. It happens with and with out cruise control. I think it is the worst when accelerating between 60-75 MPH or travelling at those speeds. I don't think it is the wheel since it doesn't vibrate when coasting. I am not sure what else to check although I will rotate the wheels next weekend, front to back. Also it seems to vibrate worse when the car is loaded. I imagine this is probably some bushing issue? I don't think it's serious, but it annoys the shit out of me. Where do I start looking? MrWinkey
I hope not but how do I check? You need a RH(I think) axle inner driver is shot ;)
s60wot
cv axles? Grab the axle and give it a shake You will be able to feel if it's bad Also, you may have some grinding or crunching sounds turning a low/slow speeds

rbodor3
jack up the front end and grab the wheel in the 3 & 9 positions and try to move it. Do the same from the 12 and 6 positions. This will help you determine where the give is coming from. Could be tons of different things. I'd start with rotate, balance, & align the tires. Check for unusual tread wear also. This is the #1 cause. Then go on to what components have gone bad (my first guess - lower control arm bushings).

Hey, I have this exact same problem with my 99 S70 glt. Its not the alignment or the tires. It also does it only under load, however mine is worse between 50-65. I replaced the top engine mount just because it was shot and so I did, but it did not help at all. The tie rods were replaced a few months ago, so I am pretty sure I can rule those out too. Everyone who replied to my post said cv. Keep me apprised as to what you find out and I will do the same. Teal

rbodor3
Cracked my CV boot over the weekend, but was forced to drive 600 miles because I was on a road trip on the way home. I replaced the boot once before because of a rock, but due to the amount of miles I had to drive on it didn't want to chance it. Just replaced the entire axle earlier today. But while highway driving, lots of boost lots of WOT btw, I noticed the car pulled left under braking. I assume was because of the axle bearing getting wore down (passenger's side). But I replaced it today - still pulls left but not as hard. Possible the driver's axle needs some R&R also?
