Pops Racer
Oil is evident on the rear of the crankcase. I thought it was the drain plug washer leaking at first, but now it appears the leak only occurs when the car is running down the road. It's making a mess under the car and blowing up on the tailgate and rear bumper. Just looking for possible issues. Turbo was swapped so I also suspect the return line O-ring, but nothing conclusive. Again it only drips on the driveway after a run. And no oil on top of valve cover.
Dave 54
Mines doing the same, only on long highway trips. I replaced the return seals cause they were leaking. Helped some but still get it, I reached up around the turbo inlet line and the rubber junction hose there felt wet so that's my next step, may want to feel around there and check. Budnapp
It is probably the turbo return line O-ring that goes back to the oil pan. This is what it was on mine. I just put a new O-ring in and it leaked like a waterfall. Took everything back apart again and found that the O-ring got ripped somehow. Replaced it again with no problems sence. Good luck

I called my indie and he thinks the same, also suggested RMS, but he did that less than 50k miles ago, and no leaking on drivers side when car is parked, so I'm dropping it at his garage for a no-charge diagnosis. I love my indie. Thanks for the input.
beadgc23
RMS? God forbid - that should be a once in a lifetime job...(per car...) Glad I got mine over with!
Modus
If it was the RMS it wouldn't blow oil that high. Does your oil leak look like this>? If it does, and only is noticed when your car is in motion then it's more than likely your axle seal. As it was mine.
erikv11
but it sure sounds like the OP knows the car is leaking oil, not trans fluid. Like, no doubt the first thing was to monitor the oil level on the dipstick?

It is the heart of the PCV system in these cars, it is attached to the block below the intake manifold. There are pinned threads about it start there. Pops Racer
PCV, Tbelt and related components, serp belt, and RMS all done at the same mileage, ~160k miles. 200k now. Nothing on top of turbo, new oil fill cap gasket and dipstick Orings, and dipstick tube oring. Oil cooler seals and Orings new with radiator this past spring, so it's a pretty limited possibilities. Def engine oil, not tranny. I'm hoping/praying it is O-ring on return line. Like I said we just did this in July, but the leak did not show up until about 4 weeks ago. I'll know Friday PM. Meanwhile she gets a flow of new oil on a regular basis! AutoZone has/had a good deal on M1 with purchase of a filter. I got the 5+ gallon jug which = 5.28 gallons, and it was right in the middle of the dipstick after the change. I think a catch can is in the near future.
