It'S That Time Of The Year

I religiously change the coolant in my vehicles every two years just before winter.

And the V70 is scheduled for it this year, and I've replaced all the hoses on that baby but the heater hoses!

What does a guy to do but DIY them hoses, lol.

I actually did it first with my T5M, which is still out of commission for a month now :( for my full 3" exhaust project, & R-mani, & 16T rebuild) and replaced the rubber htr hoses with readily available in parts store 16mm (5/8") Good Year, US-made heater hose. I shielded it with larger used rubber hose I have lying around to protect it from rubbing into other parts in the area.

Works well with turbo cars because the fire-wall metal connector is angled already, allowing the hose to be cut in length for it to have smooth and reasonable curve without restricting coolant flow. Two oetiker clamps and two fire-wall o-rings set and I'm golden. I'm pretty sure quality/hd screw clamps will work just as well instead of oetiker clamps.

For our V70 NA, I used expansion tank hose 6842894 from fcp groton and cut it to approximate the shape of the original one, and for the longer one, the 16mm 5/8" hose worked just fine. I used protection against rubbing like I did for the turbo. Installed and tested and no leak ftw!

BTW, I ditched the metal hose from the exhaust manifold on the NA before by using the single inlet type for turbo air-box, so I have plenty of room in the area.

Pix below is for mock-up of the NA, the mock-up of Turbo, and the pressed-on crimp split opened (pix is of cooler line, but hose crimping is similar).

My cost is under $20 for two pairs!
