HeavyIron
So, I just installed my MSD 6AL, regapped plugd to 0.032, and installed IPD's HD red (14lb) cbv spring. So I go out for a drive and decide to do a stoplight drag. I brake torque to 3k and drop on green. The engine pegs to almost 7k for what feels like a two count before moving, scorching the tires, and throwing me back in my seat for two 7k shift points My only concern was in the delay before moving. I am wondering about the health of my torque converter. Any ideas people?

Brake boosting is pointless unless you at least running drag radials and on the street the best way I've found is to gradually roll into the throttle
rbodor3
Mine used to delay also, but I quickly realized damage was being done by not letting the car warm up proper. I mean like a solid 15 minutes of driving to get everything in the sweet spot. I also found brake boosting seems to confuse the ECU. The delay you speak of happens to me every so often, from a dead stop to drag. Always do a rolling start anyway.
BurgerBob
It's not toasted until it's not shifting! I didn't worry about my auto until that point anyway.
randomdude
these cars are no good from a stop anyway. get em to race you from a roll. whens the last time you gave it a fluid flush? how did the previous owner maintain the trans? these are important Q's to help you find an answer. Captain Bondo
It shifts at 7k? It's either a very awesome trans or a very bad one...Also, you probably make about 6hp at 7000rpm...
GeraldJ
7k and 19t go together like water and oil. I say its past time for a 5 speed swap. I know where there is 5 or 6 m56 laying around.

See my dyno sheet. Tune is set up for 7250 fuel cut. Made 294whp at 7k. I am surprised that the TCU is keeping up though... 7k and 19t go together like water and oil. Out of time and cash for this year....
