Deciding What To Do S70 Turbo (Lost Title)

Recommended Posts

So i have a 1998 S70 GLT turbo 146,000 miles on car, Dark Blue with Nice Dark Gray leather, heated seats and mirrors, factory cd player, great seats, door panels popping out(comon), power everythign works great, has alarm but no fobs, fresh tune up with all parts from fcp groton wires, plugs, cab, and rotor, compression is 145-145-145-145-145, flame trap done, needs abs module( i think i have one), trunk has dent in driver side rear corner but still works fine. Here is the deal friend of mine boght this from local dealer but title was not done right. It has a new York clear title but has been signed to many times and never registered. So wants to sell good running car and rather not part or help with getting a title would be great too. Trying to figure out what car is worth to somebody? i can take pixs tonight. my e-mail is joej@kw.com

You would basically have to pay taxes on every transaction skipped. FE, if its been signed by 3 different people, and only registered once, you would have to pay taxes on 2 transactions based on the value of the car.

I'm not saying this to be a dick, but that's a $1k car until it has some legit paperwork attached to it. The state to state transfers are the problem. All of us know how each state handles everything differently.

Anybody who has dealt with something like this before will offer you half or less of what it's worth, and those who haven't dealt with something like this before may track you down later to anally rape you. They may even visit you again months down the road for a retap.

I've bought a jetski and a car without a title before, and scored both of them for next to nothing. I purchased a surety bond each time and had to spend a chunk of time at DMV applying for new titles and then visiting the PoPo for vin checks and theft inspections, and that was for stuff that never left Michigan.

Could be a deal for somebody that has time to deal with the mess, but it's going to be some work.
