Factory Speaker Locations.

As far as I know the 855 has 6 speaker locations?

Dash, front and rear doors.

If im replacing all the speakers, would I have to use all the area's? Would the front and back doors be sufficient or will there be a "gap" coming from the dash.

I suppose I could run the tweeters in the dash and the components in the front doors with co-axle's in the rears?

I guess what im trying to figure out from you guys is, what works well.

Ill be running 2x 8's in the rear.

8 locations. those 6 plus 2 in the rear pillars.

The rear 4 are 8ohm each, each side in parallel to present a 4ohm load to the hu. the fronts and dash are 4ohm each and do not share amp channels in the same way.

I have components in teh rear doors (tweeter mounted just below lock pin) and front doors (tweeter in sail panel). The rear pillars are only useful if you've a 3rd row seat. The stock tweeter locations are pretty good, but makes wiring a bit more complicated as passing wires through the doors can be a pain. Coaxials in the rears is fine, but my son kept complaining it was too boomy with the highs so low in the doors. He loves the new speakers, and the raised locations vastly improves the sound. Granted he's 7 but he has to ride back there...

You can fit 4" or 5.25" speakers in the front, the rears are a bit trickier but i managed to get some oversized 6.5" speakers in there with a bit of mod to the speaker mounts. You want to keep EVERYTHING but the speaker itself, the black plastic tubes the speakers mount into are 100% part of the speaker "box" that the door provides, and you'll ahve massive air leak if you remove them. The tuning on the boxes in the rear doors is very impressive.

pioneer 3000ib hu

Polk exII 4" components in the front (had these forever, the db1000s sound amazing)

Pioneer 6.5" oversized components in the rear

Visteon z300 HD tuner

Sony explod 800w

JL 15" DVC -(blew it apart last spring... so sad... to be replaced)
