Thanks for the quick response what would be a safe amount 1 turn? Although i know that messing with it in the first place isnt very safe

try 1 complete rotation at a time and see how you like it, if you want more then repeat =)

hope you have a boost gauge to watch when boost comes in. low RPM boost=bent rods.

dont worry about bending rods with 15g/16t turbos, its pretty hard to do...ask me how I know ;D

Theres no way that adjusting your wastegate will blow your motor on your stock tune unless you tighten it 100% and have to use vice grips to put it back on the swing arm

just twist it till your happy, dont worry about engine damage you wont be able to get over 14psi with the wastegate only

Yeah i did a turn and didnt notice to much of a difference still around 10-12 psi thanks for the help

I may be wrong but adjusting the actuator rod will not give you more boost. It will just come on earlier in the RPM range or vice versa depending on which way you turn the rod.

You are correct. And yes it can cause damage if boost is brought on to soon and you are not monitoring a with a boost gauge - regardless of what turbo is on the car.

Also to note, that if you are running boost from the stock ECU and not bypassing the boost solenoid via MBC, any difference is only temporary as the ECU typically will readjust to compensate.

+1 i did that and toasted my engine with a tightned wastegate rod

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend altering the wastegate much beyond stock settings. Might tee a vacuum pressure gauge in the line and check it, set it at 2-4psi before moving (stock setting). No amount of "adjusting" will increase the absolute boost pressure (only the onset of boost). The exception would be physically preventing the wastegate from opening all the way - a very short rod - which is in direct conflict with the design of the turbo and car in general. Next stop on that train is breakage of something.

Ultimately, the pressure is controlled by the computer via the BCS / TCV (turbo control / boost control valve). A better alternative would be to chip tune the ECU to allow higher boost - it will also add fuel which the engine will probably need. There are better TCV/BCS units that can be fitted to the car to improve boost accuracy.

Also... a funky setting on the wastegate will ultimately cause issues with the ECU and the car probably won't feel that nice to drive. Too much initial boost that the ECU doesn't expect, it will compensate by pulling timing and richening the fuel mix - read: kill performance. You are looking for a smooth boost ramp-up, it feels better in the seat and is also magnitudes safer for the engine.

Not to mention it results in a spike, not increased boost per say, just a jump up and then it comes back down. I consider boost spike to be a bad thing, hammered into my head seeing supras die from it. I want stable rock solid boost, not boost all over the gauge. If my supra decided to spike boost one day I'd have to go back in the volvo and pick up parts of my block.
