BostonCow
in my 2000 s80 t6, the sunroof, remote entry and the dome lights do not work. I have tried to reset the UEM using the "lock/unlock" trick. any other suggestions before I bring her to a dealer? any input would be great. thanks ross
Crito
Siren is the most common UEM peripheral to short out due to its location in right-side wheel well. You usually get an "alarm system service required" message though.

PsychoWagon
you dont always get the alarm service required message. Plenty of times the lin network shorts in the siren, but doesn't set off a code because the lin doesnt shut up and functions.
BostonCow
thanks for the input guys. last night i think i figured it out. disconnected the battery and when i put it back on the lights flashed like the alarm was going off, but no siren. so i guess it's down to replace the siren module myself(i have done it before on a friends s80) or take her to the dealership and find out for sure. Crito
Easy way to test: roll driver's window down, close door, activate alarm from remote, wait a minute or two and then reach in and open door from inside. If you don't hear anything then the siren needs to be replaced. I was kind of surprised that it engages with the window down but it does. Unlocking with key from outside disables the alarm automatically though so you have to do it from inside, like a thief might try and do with a coat hanger or something like that.
