c_long20
We just got finished installing a auxiliary trans cooler today. I got it off a XC90 T6 after we put a new trans, radiator, cooler lines, and cooler. Volvo makes us replace all with a trans replace. They can be easily flushed and cleaned but we still have to replace them so we have a couple laying around. The stock brackets made to the cooler were heated and flattened. We drilled and tapped the front bumper on the left side and made a bracket for the right side. We used 3/8" barbed fitting from home depot and good clamps to plumb in the hoses. No leaks and I only spent $8.27 and 3 hours.

c_long20
Yeah, the FMIC look-a-like is a plus. Thats another reason we put it there instead of on the radiator. It was also easier and cleaner there.

waldendan
How did you run your lines? I spliced into the lower lines, any pictures of lines? I had 4 old trans lines that I used for the connections at the cooler (4 to choose, I only used 2...obviously), I didn't get any of those pictures, I will bring my camera to work and take some proper ones
c_long20
I had 4 old trans lines that I used for the connections at the cooler (4 to choose, I only used 2...obviously), I didn't get any of those pictures, I will bring my camera to work and take some proper ones I finally got some better pictures of my lines today. I tried to straighten the hose at the trans for more room, but i f-ed it up and ended up having to weld it together. No leaks though. Here are the lines spliced into the lower hose. It may not be the best looking but it is very effective. I can feel a difference in shifting after some hard driving. this also adds about a quart of fluid to the system helping cool even more. I was very concerned about hoses rubbing together, I wrapped the hose with a bigger piece of hose adn ty-strapped a couple things together. Im not quite happy with the way it looks but it very effective.
JordanW
Very nice. I'm going to have to start hitting the local salvage yards for XC90 parts now to make this!

I have a couple more around, pm me if you want one You keep the original tranny cooler in the loop? YES, the radiator's cooler does most of the cooling.this is just an auxilary cooler. Are the lines the same as an 850's, you just used the clips for seal and retention? Or do I need S80?XC90 lines? Did you have to modify the air guide?
