Exhaust Any Other Options?

grr, i was told i need the whole manifold, the indy shop isnt willing to weld in a generic flex pipe either. They are not "reliable" according to them.

So im left with few options. Not sure how to proceed.

What is involved in getting the manifold off the car? Is this something i can do?

They want 800 bucks for the job, can it really be that expensive? Do i have any options at all?

What about from a junkyard?

If you car is not a turbo then the job should take 2 - 3 hrs. I have just changed mine due to the flex lattice broken inside. It was a fairly straightforward job. A little tip is remove the airbox and upper engine mount and bracket completely it will add a little time to the job but makes the whole deal easier. Make sure you replace the gaskets at both ends! Undo everything on top first then jack up the car and undo the 4 nuts on the manifold to down pipe end. A new manifold cost me 238 UK pounds. The most common cause of these going is the top engine mount being broken and allowing the engine to move more than normal so check this as well!

I finally got under the car to take a look, the mesh covering diddnt look like it was airtight, and it was half off allready, so i tore it off the rest of the way. It appears to be just a cover, or heat shield.

Anyway the metal underneath is in tact, its leaking at the joint of the flex pipe, and the manifold piece. Im not sure, is it made of steel? It kinda sounds tinny?? Im thinking mabye it can just be welded. I would try myself but im just getting the hang of the welding thing. Id probably just put a big round hole in it
