boosted850wagon
yo i'm looking to build my volvo like kinda crazy from what i hear. I was talking to a guy from ipd and was told there is or was a place that socketed your ecu with a usb port so you can hook your computer to it and tune your stuff. Anybody heard about this or know where i can find this.
303jrodt5
There are multiple systems to tune these cars with. Civinco, Turbo Tuner, Mega Squirt or IPD/RICA/ST can flash your current ecu.
boosted850wagon
yeah but i'm ipd said that can't flash for a car with over 500hp. that's why i was asking about the socket. but are those systems like piggybacks or whatever
L8 APEKS
Until you've purchased the thousands of dollars worth of parts to produce 500+hp, you won't have to worry about it. ;)

I spent roughly about 8K on my car since I purchased it over a year ago. I'm going to be lucky if I'm making 300whp. To reach 500BHP, it's going to take alot, and I mean ALOT of money. Expect in the range on 10-15K, just for the go-fast pieces, and supporting parts to make sure nothing breaks. I'm not saying you can't do it, but considering your newness to this forum, I'd read up a bit before looking into a ECU for 500hp.
TRACStar
considering your newness to this forum, I'd read up a bit before looking into a ECU for 500hp. Cause its impossible to build a high HP car without help from tha intetweb
L8 APEKS
Pretty much anyone experienced enough to know what 500+hp requires wouldn't be asking for a chip or an ECU upgrade - they'd already be planning to use MSnS, Haltech, or one of the many other stand-alone setups. We really aren't flaming you (that badly), but so far you sound pretty...well..."DANGER TO TEH MANIFOLD". We are MORE than welcome to help you (I'm a newbie here myself), but your goals probably aren't that realistic. If they are, I'd personally try to talk you out of it. It would be wiser to save that $15,000 toward a down payment on a home, instead of dumping it into an old car with a resale value of maybe $2,000. ;)
MyCarIsRed
Cause its impossible to build a high HP car without help from tha intetweb naw... but it's much smarter to research before you attempt to boost the output of an engine by 130%, something that has only been done on whiteblocks by a handfull of incredibly dedicated folks. Not saying you can't, but you might avoid some massively costly mistakes. 500hp on these engines isn't "kinda crazy" it's "freakin insane". Good luck! I agree completely but judging a persons ability/knowledge by how long they've been a member is silly lately on VS it seems that a lot of members are far to quick to dismiss serious questions because its not a popular topic... Maybe its just me the op asked about a product and everyone just jumped at him for saying 500hp
