lookforjoe
Can it be made to work with 98 FWDx70? ...Not a performance question .... AWD rear calipers can't work on a FWD rear, it's totally different setup/mount. AWD rear calipers are the same as 88- 760, 960, V90 multilink rear setup. OniFactor
just curious, but, any insight into why the AWD rear setup is so much different?
DonutsDemise
just curious, but, any insight into why the AWD rear setup is so much different? the same reason the fronts are different than the rears on fwd cars. axles coming from the diff had to be incorporated to make it awd and stuff is shaped differently. lookforjoe
just curious, but, any insight into why the AWD rear setup is so much different? Just to elaborate on Donut's response - the AWD has a multilink rear suspension taken from the RWD models. It is much more sophisticated than the basic rear suspension of the FWD models; as DD said, it has to incorporate a rear diff and driveshafts. I'll look for one of the Volvo parts diagrams - it makes it easier to understand.
