European Sportwagon
Greetings, I have been reading about wheel spacers and still have a few questions. What I gathered so far is: FWD track is wider in front than the rear to help with understeer. So, just spacing the rears to match the front will increase understeer. Don't want that! The wheels in question are 16x7 with 49mm offset. 205/50 R16 tires. I'm running stock springs with Bilstien HD's. In my mind, I would think 5mm all around to make up for the 49mm offset. Not as interested in looks as cornering. Am I on the right track? Please advise... Thanks, Shawn

Mattphi
I just don't understand what you're saying/asking. If you added a 5mm spacer to a +49et... you would be at a +44 offset. Stock offset for pegs are a 45. My current wheels are a +45 offset but I'm running 25mm adapters which puts me at a 20 and the stance is great. pwebb
you could run a thinner tire out back, say a 195, at a higher pressure, 40 psi. you gotta space that ish!

The offset on the stock rims is 43. The new rims I'm looking at are 49. So adding 5mm spacers would put me at 44. Correct or am I backwards? Going to do more reading... Mattphi
Your correct but you also have to look at the width of the wheel, that will factor in as well. Here is a wheel offset calculator that you can enter all of your info into...and it will tell you how much further out your wheel will sit. http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
European Sportwagon
Thanks. Just what I was looking for. My inner clearance in 12mm less and the outer is the same. Do I have 12mm to spare? Maybe I should go with 10mm spacers.
