steve s Posted November 29, 2004 Report Share Posted November 29, 2004 5-1/4" may or maynot fit front door.my 5-1/4" kappas didn't fit, but it did in somebody else's 850. i had to trim the little opening in the metal panel to fit... charles has a writeup on this already (go to his reviews/mods on volvospeed).just get some shallow depth speakers like the infinity reference shallow mount (infinity used to carry some 5-1/4", but i can't find it anymore..they do have 6-1/2" shallow mount)...and it should clear the metal panel underneath..rear door can fit 5-1/4" or 6-1/2", but the larger 6-1/2" size won't fit under the stock grill.don't worry about the cross-overs, most coaxials don't have them..only a few like the kappas have them. it's easy to install just the speakers on a 850 because everything is snap on and/or simple screws... if u do get speakers with crossover, just get some connectors and crimp them on to the wire on the crossover and hook them up to ur car's old connectors.
