Dynamat

Ok, I have dynamat all over my trunk, and from what I can tell it's doing its job as an anti-vibration material. However, I don't have it on my door panels, I was noticing on BenW's install that he's got it. I'd just like to hear your thoughts if you do have dynamat (or other sound deadener) on your door panels and if you think it's worth it or not. I read through all the posts on dynamat and coulnd't get any difinitive results on the sound benefits of it installed on the panels... Thanks guys.

Kev,

Do a search on Sounddomain forum or the Carsound forum and you'll see that those guys recommend "deadening the sh*t outtta your doors"

I think it DOES make a diff. Some of these people rip all the interior out and lay down like gobs of dynamat, or brownbread, or cascade or whatever.

you got a fatass car kevin, but plz tell me your friend jake doesn't were that shiny shirt all the time  back OT: 1 layer of DM works well but 2 layers of the thick stuff will stop bullets (if your gun is a subwoofer and it shoots soundwaves that is)

haha... no, that's not us... I'm just clownin around.. I thought we needed some holiday humor...

do you recommend putting DM on the door, or the door panel? or both?

Kevin,

Sound deadening material works wonders for vibration and road noise that will color your audio.

For my brother's truck we put 4 layers of Raammat (like dynamat, its cheaper because you can buy it buy the roll). We used 3 rolls for his entire cab. If you drive around with the system off its basically silent. Like Lexus quite. It also prevents all the rattles and vibrations from a high powered audio system.

The downside is its heavy. 3 Rolls of mat for my brothers truck is 120+ pounds. The Volvo has more area to cover so you're looking at a lot of weight for a multiple layers of mat.

Thanks Stephen,

Yeah.. the heavy part I'm not that worried about since I already have a large serving of MDF in the trunk.. Justy tryin to get some opinions.. Where did you score the raamat? Cost?

In that sticky, it just shows doing the bare metal there. I'm pretty sure I had seen someone that also did the back of the actual door panel. Does that help any more or anything? (I've so gotta do this this summer when I get to work on my car again and after I finally get some new shocks...)

So many things on my "To do" list.

How much in peel 'n seal does it cost to do the doors well?

A lot less... If you want me to run up to st. college to help you out with it just give me a yell. I have my doors done and I've noticed a big difference compared to my friends 850. They are more solid sounding and a lot less sound leaks outside of the car. Its great, you open the door and the seal is so tight that you feel the bass pound out. :D
