mojojo
I'm having issues with a T5-R I recently bought. The engine in the car had a blown head gasket so I replaced it with an engine in a wrecked car I got for free, and was able to run and drive this car without issue after replacing the fuel pump relay. The radiator fan does not power and causes the car to overheat in traffic. The temp gauge works and is accurate, and the fan works when 12V is supplied via the red power and ground wires. I've replaced the relay with a known good relay (from my wrecked car), and still have the issue. Any reccomendations on where to look next would be great! Ihatespeedbumps
I have to assume you checked the fuse? I only say this because there is no mention in your post.
FCP Euro
That would be a simple fix and he could have overlooked it. Sometimes it is the simple things that fix the issue.
Markymark
That would be a simple fix and he could have overlooked it. Sometimes it is the simple things that fix the issue. try resetting the relay this happened to me once after doing a manual swap and recently after putting in a new engine: unplug ect and all plugs going to the fan relay and start the car then plug everything back in with the car on. If that doesn't work (takes a little while for the car to warm up enough to kick the fan on) then unplug them with the car running and plug them back in with the car still running, also if you unplug just the ect with the car on the fan will turn on so that will help you check if it's your fan motor out not sure if you mentioned that the fan ran or not. mojojo
Sorry for the delayed response... I have not checked a fuse for the cooling fan, I am not aware of one or its location.
v4lve
Sorry for the delayed response... I have not checked a fuse for the cooling fan, I am not aware of one or its location. The fuses are under the hood by the drivers side cowl, there'll be a cover that says fuses. Can either visually inspect them or pick up a cheap circuit tester, something like this and essentially with the car in pos two just tap the exposed metal on the fuses. The fan relay is under the shroud in the front of your car, basically leaning over the engine and it will be right under your nose so to speak
mojojo
So, I've checked all of those fuses, but noticed I never found one labeled with a 'cooling fan' term; what position is this fuse? I've used my multimeter to test continuity through each fuse, and none are bad. I've replaced the relay with a known good relay, and used the old relay in my third 95 850 to verify it's working properly. Thanks guys!
JordanW
this is a 850 t5-r or s70 t5-r? S70's have a fuse, 850's use a fusable link on the hot side of the starter.
Markymark
Did you try doing what i suggested? it worked both times for me, and you can test the fan motor (power) by unplugging the ECT and the fan should come on
AlvinL
Also, does the diagnostic beside the washer fill work? Look for codes.
