Audi Quattro 20v

800hp? Mikey, how is it possible?

Possible? The Audi 5-cyl are bullitproof. Forged pistons, rods and OEM crank.

Big turbo, Volvo injectors!!!, stainless manifold, big IC and OEM EMS.

If a Volvo 5-cyl can handle 800 hp the Audi 5-cyl can do it even better.

The Audi engineblock is very strong, needs no mods on that.

Volvos head are better, a perfect combination would be Volvo head and Audi bottom. :D

your right. plus you can rely on many many racing parts from the IMSA series monster.

Also there is the RS2 with 315hp stock. lots of people take the (exhaust)

manifolds of those. But i heard that the RS2 exhaust manif is even cusotmized good for only aournd 500hp. i also hear from german s2/ 20V quattro enthusiasts that 500hp is like a barrier that is not so easy to take....

Mike, why has nobody in sweden done a rebuild on a AUDI 20V short block? What are the biggest difficulties?

I don´t know what you mean... A short block ready for sale?

Rebuild 20V:s is very common here. All the S2, RS2 and S4.

I sometimes use the RS2 manifold but the SportQuattro is way better.

Hard to find now but it´s very good.

As your friend said 500 hp is the limit on the RS2 manifold, after that it get warm.

I got a IMSA/GTO engine standing, stronger forged crank and stronger bolts.

One funny thing about the GTO-engine is that it got one "canal" per valve.

You got 10 holes on every side of the head. Hard to build manifolds...

720 hp with 50 mm restrictor, 1000+ without.

I also got a ITS GT80 to this engine. Want to buy it all? :)

that exceeds my skills, im afraid.

But im still looking for some s2/ old s4 (20V, of course)

is it true that the transmission is breaking quite easily on the s2 coupes/ avants?and that the s4 transmission are better?

is that true for the 5 or for the 6 gear versions?

which one is better?

(i rather wanted to know if people in sweden have taken audi parts for their volvos.)

If you talk 5-speed the S4 got a stronger gearbox but when it comes to 6-speed it doesn´t matter.

If you want the strongest, look at S2 -95 and -96 or a RS2.

The nice thing about the Avant is that it came -93 and the 6-speed also came -93.

Also the better ABY-engine came -93 in all S2:s.

Avant is a good choise if you want a car in good shape, Avants are often driven with care.

About the parts, I don´t know one thing that fits a Volvo.

The engine is totally different, also the drivetrain.

One fun thing would be to swap an S2-engine into a 850.

If you take the gearbox and mountings from a 850 TDI (Audi-engine) it should be pretty easy.

thanks. very much. your right. the avants are in better shape than the coupes, which often have been chipped, modded and driven by some insane people.

but i heard that the chassis of the coupe is much stiffer and also lighter, so it it would make a much nicer race car?

(to take an 850TDI to built up with an s2 engine sounds very good.....Are you sure the gearbox will handle (and fit of course?))

The chassi on the Avant is good to, if you don´t like it H&R got kits.

I don´t know if the TDI gearbox can handle the power, I guess so but not sure.

Yes, it will fit, the diesel and gas Audi 5-cyl blocks are the same on many points.

@ Mike: I guess we had a misunderstanding, i didnt mean the set up of the avant vs the coupe. i would definitely go with KW. What I meant was, if the body flex (chassis rigidity) is the same. I mean i already "sucessfully" twisted my 850 on the track (thats why i get a CrMo welded in roll cage this winter). So if i go for an s2 one day, i might look for the stiffest car available. And i heard that the coupe is much stiffer than the avant. Is that so?

btw. what do you think of this RS2?

is that a genuine one?

A friend told me that the RS2 was made in a few sedan samples.

I don´t know if this is true, it´s common that people call modified S2´s RS2, sad but true...

The sedan is fat if you get the DTM widebody, mmmm..... :)

Jupp, the coupé is stiffer than the avant, your only choise if you want the fastest trackcar.

My last S2 had a full Crome-Moly cage, stiff is just the beginning of what that car was.

..how do you spool that baby? with a 747?

no, honestly. How much does that thing flow?

(as for the rs2 sedan: he must have changed the whole interior then, if this was an s2 basis.....)

It´s specified to make 1000hp with fast spool-up on a 2,1 litre engine.

80 mm in and 80 mm out.

No, I actually think Audi made a few RS2 sedan as testcars, some of them came out.
