Flukey
I dont know crap about the V40. A poor lady I work with has one with a engine vibration around 1000 to 1200 rpms. You can lightly modulate the throttle at that point and it vibrates like its running on meth anphetimines. This thing has 90,000 on the clock. She bought it used with 50 grand on it and she says it always did it. I would like to help her out. Does anybody have ideas,or is someone familiar with this issue? This lady drives this dented up POS 40 miles to work each day and already broke a ball joint one day and had to get towed and subsequently robbed to fix it by most likely some butcher. I just want to give her some useful advice. Anybody have this issue with their V40? Thanks in advance. Flukey

Flukey
motor mounts, most likely the front and/or rear lower mounts. I am kinda thinking the same thing. But why does it vibrate only at a certain rpm? If it is mounts ya would get clunk noise with engagement and aceleration cause the engine wants to move when it is under a load. Has anybody experienced a harmonec balancer going bad or a welded weight on the torque converter coming off to cause this vibration?
Ihatespeedbumps
+1 on the engine mounts. It could be all 4 gone bad, they can cause weird vibrations. Don't forget about the one under the air box.
mdlimy
Has anybody experienced a harmonec balancer going bad or a welded weight on the torque converter coming off to cause this vibration? your overthinking it, bad motor mounts will cause more vibration at certain rpms than others. its possible its missfiring i suppose, how does it run? CEL?

Thanks for the replys guys. Telling her go take it to the dealer is just like straight up anal-rape for her. Want to save some money, tell her to find an Swedish independent shop. And yes, those motor mounts need to be replace. There are 4 of them all together.
MrWinkey
Telling her go take it to the dealer is just like straight up anal-rape for her. Now that's not nice! Start with the front upper mount on the passenger side frame rail.
