sox2112
So if the tranny is toast, is it worth trying to flush/change the ATF? It uses JWS3309 or something of that sort right? Do the fault codes pulled help shed any light on what it may be(ECM 530D & TCM 0100)? I suppose I'll wait until I figure out about the VIP warranty to do anything. If I am able to get it transferred over that would be a great early xmas present. If its not covered, should I just try flushing the fluid and changing the PNP switch before I call it quits?1 other thing, the flashing arrow on the dash was only on the night I drove it home when the problem started. When I turned on the car to take it to the dealership yesterday; it wasn't on anymore, just the CEL.
Chilled man
if its toast your wasting your money doing anything else other then replacing it. On another note, Chilled Man; how much is the tranny swap (prob can't afford that either) and what is the MTE tune? pricing above already layed out for you :D
sox2112
Well I guess I'll wait until this thing w/ the VIP warranty is figured out until I do something. Because I can't afford to replace the transmission @ $5k and probably not even the manual swap price. The car is worth maybe $7k on a good day, no sense in dumping that much into when I still have a loan on it. If I'm not covered by the VIP, then the car is most likely getting sold or traded in. Since the transmission is dead or dying anyway, is there much harm in still driving it?

Pauloil
I started flushing my 99 car at about 56K, and have done about 5 drain and fills since that time, now 134K if you change you own oil, it is not hard on the newer cars to drain the tranny. there is enuf room to get 24mm socket on the plug your's prob takes the 3309 or toyota T4 fluid. I would do it sooner rather than later....
