Me personally, Im running a Kenwood HU, CD +Ipod, 4x 5.25 BA's in the front / rear powered off the HU ( getting distortion at high volume levels, amp needed), Kenwood 9105D @ 1ohm or w/e @ 900w RMS, 1x Kicker L5 12" in a 35hz Sloted Box, Optima Yellow top, Big 3. ( Factory amp removed )

What is the amount of volts the head unit is putting out? Most h/u put out about 4 volts my Eclispe Cd5000 h/u are one of the very few h/u that put out 8 volts to the amps I am using PRE MTX Xtant amps MB Quart Prems up front components and MBQuart Ref in back with JLaudio 12W3 OLD sub and tons of Dynamat and it is VERY clear. So your problem sounds more like cheap h/u really.

Im not having problems with my subs? My sub is bassing my car apart. Sounds just like it should. The High are the problem, because the amp inside the the HU is having to work to hard to power aftermarket Mids/highs at high volume, and thus, a true 50x4 seperate amp will solve the distortion.

Beewerks, What kinda setup are you running? If your dash lights are going almost out, you must have some massive juice flowing in the ol' brick...

I don't want to get terribly off topic here, but just to answer your question: I'm running a Kenwood X493 HU, all four doors have Focal speakers along with tweeters in the front, stock ones in the rear pillar. 12" MTX Thunder sub powered by a 700 watt Pioneer single channel amp, and an Alpine MRP-F300 amp for the door speakers.

I was thinking about running 1/0 gauge to my V70R amp....me thinks it will gives me moarr powarrrrrr. I can then splice the powarrrrrr to my uber kewl neon speaker rings I has mounted on each speakarrrrz.

Thoughts, yo?

On a serious note, this topic belongs in maint..........tell tales of audio setups belong in audio.

While these huge 3 are audio related they are most commonly maint. items.

Argue it all you want, don't forget to visit my blast off button. ;)

Who cares how healthy the car's electrical system is, as long as the lights don't dim when the uber kewl bass hits. :arob:
