metalman
so, I just got done doing a trans flush (holding out for spring and a manual swap) and timing belt on my 01 v70t5, feeling great, even commented about how much I just love working on this car in general, and I go to unlock the tailgate, and it isn't working I've tried several things while trying to unlock it, pushing in, pulling up/out, ect to no avail, and although I have literally looked a dozen times hoping that one of the external locks would magic itself onto my car, it hasn't yet and from the forum scouring I've done, I haven't been able to find any other way to unlock it. Everything else seems to work, brake lights, fuel gauge ect., and I could swear I hear the solenoid tensing up, but not really moving anything in the tailgate, so I'm guessing its the noid so now my question is if anyone knows what I'm supposed to do about this besides destroy the rear tailgate trim panel to try and get to the lock, does anyone have a wiring diagram that would break down which wires go to the solenoid, my next best idea is hitting it with a few extra volts I have seen some really bad designs on things, I'm in the military, but honestly I think this may be the single stupidest design I have ever seen If there is any justice in the world, whoever was responsible for deciding to build a door so stupidly, will be out someplace, and both sides of their car will be parked in, so that only the tailgate is free, while a pack of horned up prison escapees happens by and notices their situation while they endlessly mash the unlock button, maybe then the regret and shame of what they've done will finally come back upon them, even if it won't fix my problem thanks for anyone with a solution to this one (never seen such a short sighted design, like they never expected the car to last this long, its only an 01, didn't they think someday it might wear out!!!) swc75
Did you try the key on the tailgate lock?
metalman
that only came on the cars with the 3rd row seat to my knowledge, which I don't have (although a few have claimed they got it anyway, most didn't) I've scoured every inch of the tailgate, but does anyone have a photo of where it is supposed to be anyway
