HeavyIron
So, I go to get my car re-dynoed and I am trying a new shop called C&S Motorsports. Real nice guys. They were going to give me tons of data, with boost, AFR, Fuel pressure, Ignition Adv., and Injector duty cycle. So we get the car setup and do a few test pulls to get the rpm trigger and a few other sensors working right and then get into the real dyno pulls. After the first run, check engine light comes on and my temp gauge nosedives along with my AFR's. Scantool says low voltage- coolant temp sensor. Eff my life. Car thinks it is cold so its dumping fuel and running pig rich. I clear the code and try to get one more run, but AFR's come back at 10.0-10.5 and my horsepower has gone in the toilet (like 242whp) Sooo, back to the shop for more repairs. I swear the car spends more time there than in my own garage
550
Join the club :-/ At this stage of the game, I know the CEL will come on after I fix another problem. I fixed the lower rad hose, then the upper rad hose went, as well the ECT went. Then the baro sensor went. Now the car stalls when I'm braking. It never ends! db130
add a 180 deg thermostat while you are at it! a new coolant temp sensor could be considered part of stage 0! LOL

troyhyde
Don't screw the sensor in too tight, it makes the center probe pop out.
550
Hey out of curiosity what is your gauge on the dash showing? Is the coolant temp sensor on the t-stat the sender for the gauge?
EricF
Hey out of curiosity what is your gauge on the dash showing? Is the coolant temp sensor on the t-stat the sender for the gauge? Yes, and it should drop to the bottom of the range...
Pops Racer
Volvo sensor only, no A/M.
550
Funky. My OBDII was reading around 300 degrees, but the gauge never moved. The ECT was faulty though... confusing.
randomdude
^could be the temp gauge itself. mine will drop sometimes, and i have DTC codes for the gauge/dash, but not the ECT sensor.
