KlausC
I have a friend who is trying to install a set of rails from a junked V70 2000 on to his 1996 850. He claims that he took off the plastic strip from the base of the windshield to the lift gate on the 850 and cannot find any holes to screw in the 'new' rails. I had thought all wagons came with the screw holes in place, even if the car didn't have the rack installed. Am I wrong? Is there another layer to take off? My 1998 already had brackets installed. Thanks, Klaus

Thanks, Klaus The holes are there. They're probably filled with the goop that holds the trim clips in place. Using the rail as a guide, have your friend look closely where the holes should be. He'll find them.
Dave 54
They are there, as mentioned probably hidden by some black like tar, leave the tar there it's there to keep water out just drive the mounting screws through it.

Thanks guys! Just what I needed to hear. A small pick is in order to go through the goop :)
