Brickster151
Here is what I want to do [i know jack sh*t about car audio]I've got the SC-901 headunit [stock] in my V70R with a indash 3-Disc CD changer. There is an option for another [6 disc] cd changer on the headunit. Instead of running the 6-disc [which I'm sure was a OEM deal], could I run an aftermarket CD Changer that is capable of MP3/CDR playback and continue to use the SC-901 to control it? Cause I am getting really sick of the indash changer not being MP3/CDR compatible.Would that work?
StickThatClutch
The Volvo CD Changer prewire is only compatiable with Volvo branded CD changer units. So using an aftermarket version won't work. You can try to convert the CD changer to an AUX input via an adaptor. Check this link out. http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz_catalog/bli...litz_volvo.htmlYour HU doesn't play CDRs?
C70_london
Had exactly the same problem with CDRs in my SC-901, even after getting it swapped at Volvo I used a VOLO2ALP adaptor - same as the Blitzsafe I think, but that isn't available in the UK. I also got an Alpine CHA-S634 changer from e-bay. This is an 'AI-NET' changer that plays MP3s as well, but you need an M-bus/AI-NET converter ("KCA-130B" ~ £15 in the UK) to make it work. After hooking it all up, it plays CDRs and MP3s without any problems.. :)
theunderlord
Brickster... I know that a lot of people want to keep their cars looking stock, but... you can pick up a nice MP3 HU for around 180-200 bucks... you'll gain another DIN hole in your console that can be used for storage, and you'll get better sound out of a higher powered HU... Just something to think about... Volvo decks are pretty finicky about CDR's... Plus, a lot of people buy volvo HU's... I bet you could sell your volvo HU real fast if you decided to go aftermarket. Just my .02.
98BRICK
getting our decks to play CDR's is a tricky thang....some changers like em...some dont...I believe it has something to do w/ the year and model of the Volvo Cd changer...Ive learned that there are at least three different (6) Cd changers and 1 (10) CD changer, that i know of....I believe if u find a newer one...u may have better luck playing CDR's :)
AnthonyR
Hmm, I had the newer silver glovebox 6disc in my 850 for about a year before I upgraded and it played every brand of CDR I ever tried in it. Maybe it's an S/V70 thing about not playing CDR's. Anyways, now I have my Alpine 9815 and am wondering why oh why would I ever want factory again!
