lookforjoe
Gap the plugs down if you keep blowing out spark, could go .20 and still be fine. Definitely get a new cap & rotor. Pull the ECU or disconnect the battery to reset the ECU (I usually do it overnight and just reconnect the battery/reinsert the ECU when I wake up). After talking with him, he's already getting heavy sooting with plugs gapped @ .025" - he should be able to run .028" on the OEM or NGK race plugs.. The sooting could be from the misfiring, really. Or just the rich mixture in general... I think if he is getting blowout he should gap them down until it goes away, then troubleshoot from there. Just to be sure it is actually blowout and not something else. Even if it means going to .018-.019... They'll still light off the mixture at that gap. True - he did say "...and (AFR's) 14.5-16.0 off throttle." -- He should be seeing AFR's that peg the gauge (18+) off throttle/decel.
Account_Deleted_T5M
gap your plugs at .023, take out your ecu and let it reset, i imagine that your ecu is holding the ecu conditions
HeavyIron
Hats off to Hussein yet again. He previously had mentioned in one of his posts that he had difficulties with misfires and he traced them to his MSD coil. I had forgotten about that until he called me and reminded me of it. 20 minutes... I still can't believe that was all it took to cure my problems. I put my stock Bosch coil back in and new instantly from how it sounded on startup. Took it for a nice (read hard) drive tonight. I was cautious at first but kept going higher up the rpm range and further into the throttle. I still have not done a hard launch from a dead stop, but from 30-90 it's wicked I do not understand what goes bad in the MSD coil, but I cannot believe I struggled so long trying to track down a problem to have it be so easy to fix. - Glad I didn't sell my stock coil LOL! For anyone reading this if you have misfire issues and are running an MSD coil, be sure to check your coil.
Jardon
I love it when a plan comes together - well done. I know I went on a bit about your actuator when the HG blew but how are you finding the lighter spring on the road?
