I can get almost 14 rods for that price!

you cannot even compare Carillo to china H beams. I have china h beams and I know I have the Hyundai of connecting rods. Cheap & reliable, but no Ferrari. Carillo is the ferrari -hands down

I thought all their Volvo rods were the 143mm variety. The earlier whiteblocks need 139.5mm rods, which I don't see listed in their product catalog?

If they have made custom sets, (which they have), they can probably make more. Overkill for cars on this board, but still cool as an option.

Very true. I'm only saying that because the part number he quoted is for the 143mm rods... and all the rods they list in the catalog are 143mm, thus my confusion, since they definitely aren't compatible with the older blocks unless you upgrade pistons to something with a shorter comp height.

With con rods, you do get what you pay for. If you're going that far into an engine where you're replacing rods - get the ones that will hold up to just about anything.

Hardly necessary for a street car. I'll stick with my $500 H-beams, thank you very much

im sorry, i must agree. sometimes you really do pay for a name. case in point. my father has a chebby {puts on flamesuit} with a aluminum headed 496 stroker with a dual stage fogger, with some ~700 dollar compstar(callies) rods, and those rods have held up to every beating they have ever been subjected too. he could have payed for 1500-1600-1700 dollar rods from somewhere like carillo, but when they have held up to some 40 sub 8.99 passes. i think they will do just fine.

Carillo has been recommended to me before in Sweden, but so have a number of others that are cheaper. Verdi Rods for example have an excellent reputation and I believe were the ones chosen by Volvo for their race cars in the 90s and they retail for under 1000. The price of R-sports are very tempting though.

But in all seriousness, thank you for pointing out another good quality option.

Price isnt far off from the Pauter rods. I believe they are right at $1050 for 5.

I dont like the quality controll of most the china made products I see. I also like the fact that I can call and get the owners on the phone and if I really felt the need I could even go see how they are made.

In another topic on this forum, someone, mentioned that there are two big factories for all the H-rods.The one is in China, and the other is in US,and also only one brand(I don't remember which one)sells the US rods, all the others manufacturers, just put their brand on,and the higher price of course..........
