Guest marias850
I'm trying to find out what bulbs need to be replaced on this radio. I know the typical Volvo 850 OEM radio uses 5 bulb. I don't know though what is supposed to lite up when power is on. So far as I can tell the station/cassette screen lites up. Does the power button lite up too? What other buttons lite up. Thanks! JordanW
You may want to post the specific model of radio... ex. SC 8XX? whatever the case may be. None the less, on my SC-815 everything EXCEPT the LCD is lit when the radio is OFF and the lights on. The LCD becomes lit when the radio is on. KNOXVEGAS S70GLT
Speaking of the lcd screen. How do you replace the bulb for that in a sc816
Dave 54
Speaking of the lcd screen. How do you replace the bulb for that in a sc816 You don't, you'll have to get another HU and swap over the LCD screen which is actually part of the board, so you'll have to swap the board that is right behind the face, just did this on mine a few weeks ago, luckily I had spares laying around. Yea, you just have to desolder the old bulb out and solder the new one in. Its really not that hard, very little clearance for the bulb, but I used one of the left over ones from the radio buttons that I just replaced with LEDs. RobT5M
Oohhhh, so they are 9mm bulbs? I just ordered my first round of blue bulbs for my dome and handles, Might you have any photos of the actual bulbs themselves? If not its cool, I can always take apart one of the spare radios I have and look.
bdimag
i do, hold on... they're regular bulbs w/ blue film over them that can be transfered to the new bulb. (blue film + yellow light = the green you see) -------------edit--------------- info on the 9mm bulb: Volvo Part #9148908 - MSRP $8.40 Honda equivalant is Part #35505-S84-N01 - like $3 I used a bulb by JKL Components Part #CNW1-23, and ordered from Mouser.com - $0.65 for 1 or $0.59 for 10+ 9mm on the left, 17mm on the right
RobT5M
Is there any specific name for that bulb type? Im going to try to locate it in a color that will reflect blue. NVM Neo Wedge Based LED Bulbs Autolumination has them. http://autolumination.com/srt4.htm
