Codes 122 &132

My brother in law owns this '93 850 and he's 200 miles away from me. His car cranks, but won't start. He's got fuel delivery (he can hear the fuel pump humming just before cranking), He added a tablespoon of oil to each cylinder which didn't help. He has determined he has no spark, with one of the plugs inserted into its boot and the boot/plug laying across the engine, there is definitely no spark present. I just told him over the phone how to read the codes. All of the A sockets read 1-1-1. Socket A7 (combined instrument) is the only one reading "122" and then "132" ECT sensor interval too long and RPM signal missing. I'm pretty sure these codes mean nothing. I've seen them before even when the engine was running beautifully. This OBD ! sucks, it's way too primitive. Anyone have any ideas??
