theunderlord
Simply put : post what you got brand/size/location(s) in the car. Let's get rid of the guess work.OEM speaker replacement stories only please. :)
Jamaica2G
I put JL XR 6.5 component sets in the front and rear doors. the combined woofer, tweeter in the rear doors and in the front doors, separates - woofer in doors and tweeters on dash.6.5" will fit all 4 doors, and the speakers on the rear shelf are 8" each. I left them open as holes for bass to pass through. If you have a sub in the trunk AND want to put speakers on the shelf, I would suggest you figure a way to put the 8" speakers in seperate foam baffles. I put the front door speakers in foam baffles and they sound much better than the rears. If I ever get around to pulling off the rear door panels again, I would do it for those as well. Better midbass response. But then again you said OEM speaker direct replacements... so you would have to go with JL VR series I think.. or is it TR? or TV lolAdrian

SubCrash
Adrian what doyou mean by foam baffles? My passenger door speaker and right dash speaker is starting to distort a little on bass so its time to replace em all i guess. I''ll try reloacating the rear 8in speakers since i have a sub in the trunk. Or i could just leave the armrest down for better bass sounds. Jamaica2G
foam baffles that I installed on my front speakersI dont know if you can get them large enough for the 8" speakers in the back, but it would certainly help the speakers from overexcursion due to the air movements from the sub. When I had my rear 8's disconnected and the rear armrest open to let the air through, the sub still pushed the 8's considerably.Adrian

V Tuning 850
Yeah Boston Acoustic speakers are very nice speakers. I have them in my old 95 850 N/A, all the way around. They sounded marvelous. Now JL speakers are good too. Look into both brands.
Jamaica2G
There are many other good ones out there. Even some no-name ones that are very good. Just keep looking and keep listening. it all depends on what you are looking for in your car.Adrian

Vos
I had put Boston Acoustic 6.5 FS series components (FS-109 or -09 I think?) with separate mid in the doors and highs in the dash. Drop in replacement basically. Did not have enough bass to my tastes though, but I did not use baffles. I am going to have to try some foam baffles, sounds like they can really make a difference!Boston has higher end sets, but the FS were only $250 for the set. Some of their other stuff, phew! Really pricey I sold that car (it was my '98 GLT), but I am going to try these in my '99-T5 soon, and will go with front and back with them, maybe trying one of the better lines from Boston? ginkof
My first system in my S70 T5 was boston Pro 6.53 3-ways up front powered by a JL 300/2. In the back doors i had Boston Pro 5.5s and rear deck had Boston Pro 6.5s all powered by a JL audio 300/4. I had an Xtant X1001 powering a 15" eclipse aluminum sub in a custom enclosed fiberglass tub in the wheelwell. All the amps were powered through an alumpro 15 farad capacitor and the sound all went through an audiocontrol EQS equalizer. I also had a kenwood deck up front to control it all. In the extra din a had a Kenwood KVT-M700 touchscreen motorized LCD hooked upto a panasonic DVD player in the glove box.i had then downgraded to a JL 500/1 powering a 12" eclipse aluminum. i also had the Jl audio 300/4 powering the boston pro 6.5s up front and Boston Pro 5.5s in the back deck. I had a monster cap and the same kenwood deck. I sold everything else including the DVD player when i went to school becuase i didn't want to get all my stuff stolen. biged30
Well as you can see from my signature I have quite a lot of audio components in my ride. I enjoy that stuff. This past summer is when I did most of the work on it. Very time consuming, but I love the result. In the front door I put in Rockford Fosgate components, the rear doors have nothing now, the back deck has 8" Rockford Fosgate subs. In the trunk I have a pair of 6X9" Pioneers, each in a box. Those came from my old ride. I also brought from my old ride my pair of 10" Kenwood subs. I have a new Rockford Fosgate P4004 amp powering the Rockford Fosgate components and the 8" subs. I have an older generation Rockford Fosgate Punch amp powering the Kenwood subs and the Pioneer 6x9s. All of this is connected to a new Pioneer deck. I also have an XM roady by Delphi hooked up. All of this produces lots of sound and lots of bass. I dynamated both doors and the entire trunk, a must with the amount of power in my system.
