mojojo
Are the front struts interchangeable between L&R sides on the 850? Any reccomendations on 'economy' struts for lowered cars? Has anyone tried the drop springs FCP offers for 850 sedans w/o nivomats?

--Aaron--
What springs are you sittin' down on? I can offer a really good TC recommendation.......I'm on stock springs right now but they really do perform very nicely. Comfortable ride and aggressive when you need them to be......excellent price as well!

cn90
Bisltein does not cost more than stock. I have had Bilstein TC strut now for one year and love it.
erikv11
he wants cheap. Bistein TC are great been running them for 6 years, and not too expensive, but they aren't cheap.
cn90
I don't know much money he can save with Monroe and junkie cheap stuff but here it goes: http://www.fcpgroton.com/category-exec/category_id/181/sub_top_menu_item/by_make-by_model-by_year/by_make/78/by_model/1464/by_year/48/page_num/3 - Stock Sachs $105 - Bilstein TC $120 This is a big job, so do it once but do it right! troyhyde
Don't waste your time with Monroe's. They can barely control the stock spring, they will fail with a lowered car really fast. They will not feel stable from day 1. Bilstein TC's are quite good as others recommend. Just pull some fresher looking junkyard suspension for peanuts and use the stock stuff until funds allow you to get something nicer. Koni's are good on these cars. AlvinL
My son, Rboy8, got the Kilen springs from FCP, and along with the stock struts, I found it a lot harsher ride. For that alone, I'd stick with Sachs, if you go lower. Bilsteins may be too harsh if there are lots of rough roads.

I used Monroe Struts on H&R springs for over a year with zero problems. Ride quality was good compared to my Koni Yellows and iPd springs. The Monroe's can absolutely handle a lowering spring, and will probably be one of the smoother riding struts compared to the other aftermarket options. Matty Moo
For a cheaper strut or shock, Monroe's are a great deal. I've used them in the past and have zero complaints with them. I'm a big fan of KYB gr2's, but unfortunately they don't make them for 850's. Gabriels on the other hand are the ones you want to avoid. I think this is Autozone's economy special, around $50 each. I've put them on friends cars before, and the front end usually ends up being lifted an inch or more with a spongy ride.

erikv11
I was wondering if people were going to post up who have *actually used* the cheap Monroe struts, as opposed to those who "just know" they aren't any good ;)
