popabogdan
hi all i finally got my childhood dream come true as from today i am a proud owner of a 2001 volvo c40. after all the crap cars i was driving since got my license this feels like winning the lotery. the only problem that i have is that the cd-radio isn't working and the garage that i got the car said that they don't have the code for it. (it wasn't a volvo garage just the usual all models cars). anyway for the money that i paid for the car it was still an excellent deal, and i said to myself i probably by a new cd player but before that i wanted to see if the radio that came with the car might do the job. so i open took out the cd radio player and i got this numbers. the model is volvo sc - 900 S/NO. AL E51A W 06 23384 M 8 06 23384 and on the upper side that's a sticker that says VOLVO 3533788 9824 (this is printed in italic bold numbers) 4969 if anyone can get the code for this i'll be forever thankfull my e-mail is popabogdan@yahoo com
VolvoRine
Congratulations on your new VOLVO.........however c40 was not a model in 2001...... perhaps you meant s40, or C70?? Anyways a Volvo is a Volvo! As far as the radio code goes....you might have to go to the dealer with this info and see if they can give it to you like that.... in my case I pulled a radio from a junkyard and went to the dealer with the radio physically and they gave me the code right away no questions asked.........I hope you don't have to take your radio out to do this... Good Luck
popabogdan
you were right is s40. getting the unit out is not a problem, as i did it already to get all the numbers. bringing it to a dealer is costly time-wise and money-wise as i live in ireland and the closest volvo dealer is about 200 miles away. i thought that someone can get the code from a program or something cause i got a friend who owns a ford fiesta and he told me got his code from internet forums. as i told you i thought of buying a new stereo for the car but the original one still looks good, plus it has the volvo logo on it to make it extra special!!! for all i know, it may not work or have a bad acoustic, but i said i give it a shot before investing more money. TRACStar
Call a dealer and get the code over the phone, usually the serial of the HU is all they need. They might ask for your VIN
popabogdan
what is HU and what is VIN and where can i find them??
VolvoRine
what is HU and what is VIN and where can i find them?? HU means Head Unit... they need the serial number on your Head Unit (Model of you radio) and the Vin number is located..... it looks like this (under the hood compartment) Hopefully that should be enough so they can give you the radio code :)
BEJinFBK
what is HU and what is VIN and where can i find them?? To Clarify: VIN = Vehicle Identification Number It's embossed on a small plate on the dash visible through the windshield, on the driver's side. (#5 in the pic ). If the radio (HU) is not the orginal unit that shipped with the car, then providing the VIN is pointless. They'll need the model and serial # of the radio. popabogdan
Try 2323 thanx aweldon you were right that was the code, i got it from the volvo dealer over the phone on monday. however, although the unit is working, i dont get any sound at all. initially i thought that i mess up the connections when i took it out to read the serial number, but it is impossible as it has 3 different sockets 2 rectangular of different size and one that looks like a jack. any suggestions?
