MWvolvo850
Please help me brainstorm.I have the opportunity to purchase a Volvo 940 turbo. Besides upgrading the suspension and getting it to stage 0 specs, what type of engine and performance mods can be done? (ECU camshaft... etc etc.)Thanks. auser
The best and easiest is a Manual Boost Control from http://www.dawesdevices.com.Visit http://home.earthlink.net/~turbogus/index-old.html to see info on hot rodding Chrysler turbo cars and a lot of it is applicable to turbo Volvos.Get a set of IPD sway bars from http://www.ipdusa.com.Visit http://www.swedishbricks.com and use the 700/900 FAQ. Swedish Mike
I don´t know what yearmodel you are going to buy but I do a lot of 940 upgrades.Do you want to go fast for low money, do like this:# 16T turbo# 3" exhaust all the way.# VX Cam (Can be bought at Volvo)# Injectors# K&N Cone-filter# Ecu upgrade, both fuel and ignitionbox.# LSD (If you want nice 0-60 or drag)Mounted this on a -98 Classic, 285 bhp and 0-100 km/h on a low 5 sek. This makes a 940 a real sleeper at the stoplights! Feel free to ask, made many of these kits over the years./Mike
auser
We in the USA only got the 940 until 1995.

auser
940's only came with automatics in the USA. Only the 960 2.5 had the M90, in Europe and elsewhere.

My neighbor has a 1991 960 turbo with under 85,000 miles. The car is in great condition (inside/outside) and he is willing to sell it at a very reasonable price. My wife has a 2004 V-70 2.5t that I will aquire some day.All three choices will be good for modifications (Feel free to agree or disagree) but I can only choose one option. Do I cash in early on the 940 or 960? Or do I wait for the V-70?

Turbo944
I personally, would go with the 940 over the 960 if you plan to do future modifications. I can see why one would prefer a stock 960 over a 940. But if one intends to put out alot of power for cheap, the 940 is the best way to go.
