JTSPO
Ok. But, dang, $200 is still a lot more than I was expecting to pay for labor.←not for a job done right and safe. it's your money your life. My indie charge $300.
Flyby
While you are down there, you may want to replace your suspension bushings as wellhttp://fcpgroton.com/volvo850suspension.htm
wattsat
Go look at the thread where the guy paid $600 to have the shocks and struts replaced. And that did not even include parts.

Geevs
Rear: Shock Mounts (2), Spring Seats (2) *I haven't found any nuts/bolts/washers to replace on the back*Please comment on anything I've missed or if I've put something in that REALLY doesn't need to ever be replaced unless it's broken.I think the rears do not use spring seats but only (the elliptical-shaped) shock mounts. eroc37
why do you run shock boots ?? maybe i am used to off road trucks, but we never run boots on anything....they seem to just hold mud and grime... IMHO
KLS
I'd suggest taking the car to a good idependent front end shop and ask them to look for worn parts. Get prices from them for replacing anything worn like tie rod ends or control arms.If one wants to do part of the job themselves they might ask a shop if they will put the springs on the new front struts for you for a reasonable charge. It is only a few minutes work for them with their professional spring compressor. The rest of the job is OK for any one who knows how to safely put the car up on jackstands and has some wrenches. Get a Haynes manual first, though.Rear shocks are not a tough job...put the rear of the car on jack stands and use a floor jack to compress the spring enough to fit the shock.Front spring seats and rear upper shock mounts may need replacement, but not usually every time the shocks/struts get replaced. That said, if you have Bilstein shocks/struts for 100,000 miles and get them replaced under warranty (save your original invoice), you'll likely need new spring seats & rear upper shock mounts. Be sure you get the rear lower shock nut plenty tight...I chased a rear clunk for months...one nut was tight but not tight enough.Ken
