FAST850R
Hi, Do you guys put tracs on or off when you drive your 850? Any differences do you guys feel with and without traction control? one more question, how do you adjust throttle cable? I want to make my car little bit more responsive. unless I use kick down switch, this car goes quite slow.... My car is 1996 850r with 140k miles. Thanks. BurgerBob
Turn the tracs off! It's like trying to launch from second gear.
FAST850R
Turn the tracs off! It's like trying to launch from second gear. Thank you for the reply. OK, I will turn it off When do you use it then? When I drive my car on snow?
BurgerBob
Thank you for the reply. OK, I will turn it off When do you use it then? When I drive my car on snow? Yes, that would be a good instance. I live in New Orleans where that's never an issue...if it's snowing here, I'm not driving.
project_850
Turn the tracs off! It's like trying to launch from second gear. Not sure if my Tracs even does anything, on or off I break loose in 1st and 2nd. A little off topic but, I'm pretty sure that some of the high horsepower guys are launching in second... For the longest time I was wondering how the hell they could trap 125mph in 3rd gear: Autotech S70

TRACStar
Volvo 850 traction control is a joke. This The technology wasn't there in the mid 90's to handle a FWD car with the amount of torque a modded T5 lays down. I launched my car before to show some guy I used to work with that it was nothing to shake a stick at. Left the TRACS on by mistake and left dotted lines in the street.... One side spun until the TRACS caught it then the other side spun and it did it back and forth like 6 times before it hooked Good for a laugh....bad for performance ;)
caanglin
I turn it off every time I get in the car.
Mesoam
don't worry it'll turn it self off when your ABS module goes bad
caanglin
That happened and it was nice for a while. But then the pump starting kicking in while driving down the road, so I got a rebuilt one.

If you're looking for more immediate throttle response within your current gear, and you're sure you have no vacuum leaks, then you're probably going to want a higher compression motor. If you shorten your throttle cable, you will just make the car idle higher and it will be like driving around with 1/4 throttle all the time. Modifications that increase throttle response are a lighter and/or larger diameter crank pulley, and poly motor mounts. Neither will probably give you the kind of low end 'pep' you are looking for. FYI, since I'm betting you don't know this, TRACS is auto disabled after 25mph Thank you for the reply. OK, I will turn it off When do you use it then? When I drive my car on snow? You can use it when you drive in snow, but it probably won't help you much.
