Guest Guest_joe_*
 I have a 99 s70 with the 8 speaker system. The dash tweeters are stock, all 4 doors are JBL PowerPro p650 6.5 coaxials, and a set of 8" woofers from a S60. I believe I am underpowering the JBLs in the doors. How would unplugging the dash tweeters affect the sound quality? Would it give me more power to the doors? If I was to unplug them, do I just unplugg them or do I need to route wires so that no power is wasted going to them? Thanks,Joe Drake
Bing_0
what are you powering the speakres with? i would say unplug the dash tweets no matter what, take the grille off, pop out the speakre, unplug it, use electrical tape and full wrap the two speaker wire pluts, and then reinstall things...if you are using aheadunit to power good aftermarket sepakres, you will always be underpowering them b

Bing_0
my opinion is a strong NOdash locaiton is just not that great for sound uqality, and i you hvea good set of speakres in the door location, you wont miss the dash tweet, all the dash tweet iwll do is make your system sound more harsh... I am thinking about getting a new headunit with 25 rms or so per channel. How much improvement should I see? I have also looked at Panasonic's 8600 with 60w rms per channel. It retails for $500, but I can get it for under $330. Do you think this would be a wiser investment to spend $130 more now than to get a lower rated HU and add an amp later which would be around $250 more? When you mean to tape the ends, do I need to connect the + and - wires going to each speaker and then tape the ends together, or do I tape each end so that the + and - do not touch at all?I am not sure if this matters in my new HU decision or not, but it would be powering the 4 jbls (each 4 ohm) in the doors and the S60 version of the 8" woofers in the deck (each 8 ohm). I haven't ran into any problems yet running all 8 speakers (the latter plus each dash tweeter - 8 ohm each) with the stock HU? Is this a time bomb that I should be aware of before installing a new HU?Thanks,Joe Drake
Bing_0
dont ever read into what the headunit's pwoer say, they are way over rated if you are seriously considering and upgrade, i would look to getting an amp b
Guest Guest_joe_*
I guess the headunit amp just can't do what a separate amp can because of size for good components. One more thing: This may sound stupid, but when you mean to tape the ends, do I need to connect the + and - wires going to each speaker and then tape the ends together, or do I tape each end so that the + and - do not touch at all? Thanks,Joe Drake
