Sharma
Any ideas on how to hold the trunk open then?←Just use a cord and tie the gate to the top of your car where the roof rails bolt in.
Volvoson
Or, fab up some "tailgate pins" so that it is still easy to open from the outside (instead of the cord idea inside the car). Just a thought from a newb.BTW, that car is looking mean!
volflo
i like the cord idea. i had something different in mind, like using an alum rod to and put on the rear bumper. But your idea guys is a LOT better. Maybe i can even use a self-rolling up device. Anybody an idea what could be used for that along with a thin metal cord? What about the front hood springs and the mechanics to hold the hood in place? How can i get rid of those? Using an alum rod? Then off with the springs, the hood will need two people to open then........
styx0r
If you remove the hood springs, you'll probably find it easiest to access them from the front wheel wells. Use a cutting wheel (air tool) to chop em in half. It's very difficult to pry them off their mounts.
volflo
side impact with reinforcing and weight saving hole. Note that this construction had been voted over the classic cross because of legal issues. getting in an out had to be comparable to a normal car. volflo
the guy who did this is genius: the outer shell of the chassis when looked from behind at the c-column covers a big area: this makes a wagons body weaker compared to the sedan since the bracing is at a less of an efficient height. Because of this he constructed a beam underneath the roof. this construction is again drilled for less weight and more rigidity and weighs less than two pounds. (800 g)i love him. he didnt charge a cent for that....
