Verrrrry nice indeed and a car to lust for, but I'd rethink the shoulder harness set-up. I realize it's a pretty common rig but it isn't desireable. That'd be illegal in, say, SCCA, because if the seat fails in a major shunt (and they can), you have about a zillion feet of harness suddenly available to lead your lil' racer's bod into the steering wheel/dash/windshield/hood/pavement in front of the car. Bad.

The way to do a shoulder harness is to secure it to a horizontal piece - usually part of the roll cage or bar and running full width left to right - that sets slightly lower than shoulder level. This drastically reduces the amount of harness, of course, and every less inch is one less inch of fabric to stretch (and it does) or worse yet, fail.

maybe i get u wront but isnt this exactly what you are talking about?

the bolts in the middle between driver and co driver are to slide the harnesses over the hose and then thru the teo holes od the seat. Am i wrong? or didnt you just realize that the harnesses are not yet in place??

and Don: just to assure you, i really apreciate your saying your opinion on this one. Honestly. :)

Really appreciate the development pictures, Florian. We're looking forward to some springtime ring vids!

A light and simple solution for the front windows would be a sliding up and down with a strap and a button to hold in place like on early british sports cars

As for carbon fibre hoods, carbon fibre is an excellent heat insulator, which would not be the best idea for his under hood temperature problems. Freeskier on this board used a thermo probe and observed over 20 degree temperature increase on his cylinder head after installing the hood so I wouldn't advise it for volvflo's car

The Corvette Grand Sport (five of 125 planned were built in 1963 before GM canceled the project) also had a strap-on-plexiglas window arrangement. Note plexi rather than lexan because it had not yet been invented. The strap was fixed to the lower edge of the window plexiglas and had several holes in it, like a belt, allowing the window to be fixed at 3 or 4 different positions by the simple device of choosing which hole went on a hook or similar fastener on the door panel. Off topic a bit but for anyone interested the restoration of one of these incredible-for-their-time cars, check this: http://www.racingicons.com/gs/004/index.html

thanks, ken. its a common german habit to correct foreigners when they do mistakes. That sometimes might be embaressing, yet on the whole I think it can be a good thing if it said in a friendly sufficiently sensitive manner.

So please, i wont be p*** at all if ANY of my mistakes are corrected INSTANTLY.

My wish to be wiser is greater than my ego....... ;)
