bes4420
Hey everyone. I have a question. The radio in my 99 S80T6 has a terrible problem with A.M. reception...even when near the transmission tower. It gets reall bad when I hit a bump in the road. It is mitigated when I "tap" the fore/back switch on the left side of the driver's seat...at least until I hit the next bump. Anyone have any clue what's happening? Guest Sholom
I have been having static problems on my 2009 S80T6 radio for AM stations and have been to the Volvo shop a few times. The first time they swapped the ICM (computer module) and reloaded the software. No change. The second time they said "no trouble found". The 3rd time they found a loose wire in the antenna. This solved the problem for a while but the static intermittently comes back.
MyCarIsRed
AM interference is usually caused by a bad ground or leaky relays. It's a long list of troubleshooting, but you can often make things better by running a new ground for the antenna and the radio.

Anyone have any clue what's happening? Here's a link with the technical service bulletin for poor reception. Most responses seem to be great reception after repair. http://www.volvo-forums.com/t15342-s60-am-radio-reception.htm
Guest Rick
I have the exact same problem on my 2000 S80. The only time it clears up is when I hit the lock switch and then it only clears up for a few minutes. The dealership thinks its a grounding problem and has previously put a separate grounding strap to the radio to no avail. I think the AM attena is not grounding properly but have not investigated further.
